Indoor air quality

Indoor air quality monitoring for the rooms people complain about

The 2 pm meeting room that makes everyone drowsy, the classroom that smells stale by third period, the corner office that grows mold every winter — air problems are invisible until people feel them. Wireless CO₂ and humidity sensors make them visible first.

Meeting room 612 ppm CO₂

01

CO₂ builds faster than anyone notices

A full meeting room climbs past comfortable CO₂ levels well before the hour is up. Nobody smells it — they just get slower, and the meeting gets longer.

02

Humidity problems show up as mold

The corner that stays damp all winter doesn’t complain — it quietly grows a remediation bill. By the time mold is visible, the humidity problem is months old.

03

Ventilation runs on a schedule, not on need

HVAC runs the same program for a packed floor and an empty one — heating air nobody breathes, or under-ventilating rooms that are full. Without measurements, it can’t do better.

How indoor air quality monitoring works with Kilo

1

Place air sensors in every room that matters

Battery-powered LoRaWAN and mioty sensors measure CO₂, humidity, and temperature for years without wiring. One gateway covers the whole building.

2

See the building breathe

The 3D building twin recolors each room as readings arrive — stuffy rooms stand out at a glance, and dashboards show how each one developed through the day.

3

Act before people feel it

Rules alert facilities when CO₂ or humidity crosses your threshold — by push, SMS, or email with escalation — and can execute a command toward connected ventilation controls.

Hardware, ready to work

Get air-quality sensors and gateways from the Kilo Electronics store — pre-configured on request, so each device arrives ready to mount on the wall. No IoT team required.

Indoor air quality monitoring FAQ

What does an indoor air quality sensor measure?

Typically CO₂, humidity, and temperature; many models add metrics like VOCs or particulate matter. Any LoRaWAN, mioty, or MQTT-capable air sensor works with Kilo, so you can pick the metrics that matter for your rooms.

Why does CO₂ matter in offices and schools?

CO₂ concentration is the standard proxy for how well a room is ventilated for the people in it: rising CO₂ means the air is being rebreathed. Keeping it in a comfortable range keeps rooms feeling fresh instead of stuffy.

Can the readings drive ventilation automatically?

Rules in Kilo can execute commands on connected devices — so a high CO₂ reading can notify facilities and trigger a connected ventilation controller, relay, or window actuator where one is installed.

How do I show air quality to tenants or staff?

Dashboards make current values and daily curves easy to share, and the 3D building twin gives a whole-floor view at a glance — a clear answer to “what is the air like in here?” backed by recorded data.
