Asset tracking

IoT asset tracking for trailers, machines, and vehicles

Somewhere out there is a trailer you own, a generator you rent out, a van that left at seven — and the only source of truth is whoever saw it last. Put a tracker on it, and Kilo puts every asset on a live map with its route history behind it — fleet tracking and asset tracking on one platform.

Trailer 18 ON ROUTE

01

“Where is it?” costs hours every week

Phone calls, group chats, someone driving to the yard to check — locating your own equipment is unpaid detective work, repeated every time a site needs a machine that isn’t where the spreadsheet says.

02

Unpowered assets are invisible

Trailers, containers, and attachments have no ignition to wire into. They sit in the blind spot of classic fleet telematics — and they’re exactly the assets that wander off.

03

You learn about theft on Monday

A machine lifted from a site on Friday night has a two-day head start. Without a movement alert, the first sign of theft is an empty space where the asset used to be.

How asset tracking IoT works with Kilo

1

Attach a tracker to anything

Wired GPS trackers for vehicles, battery-powered LoRaWAN trackers for unpowered assets. Kilo ships with 2,000+ preconfigured vehicle-tracker templates — pick your model and it decodes out of the box.

2

See the whole fleet on a live map

Every asset appears on the dashboard map in real time — vehicles, trailers, and machines in one fleet tracking view — and one click replays its route history: where it went, where it stopped, and for how long.

3

Get alerted when something moves

Rules watch for movement outside working hours or readings out of range, and alarms escalate by push, SMS, or email until someone reacts — with the Critical Alerts app for the ones that can’t wait.

Hardware, ready to bolt on

Source GPS and LoRaWAN trackers from the Kilo Electronics store — and have us pre-configure them, so each unit arrives mapped to its asset and reporting from the first drive. No IoT team required.

IoT asset tracking FAQ

Which trackers work with Kilo?

Kilo includes over 2,000 preconfigured vehicle-tracker templates, so most common GPS trackers connect without custom decoding. Beyond those, any LoRaWAN, mioty, or MQTT-capable tracker or sensor can be added.

Can I track assets that have no power source?

Yes. Battery-powered LoRaWAN trackers run for years without charging, which makes them a fit for trailers, containers, skips, and attachments — assets classic telematics can’t reach.

Can I see where an asset has been, not just where it is?

Yes. The map keeps route history for every asset — up to 500 points per route — so you can replay trips, verify site visits, and see where a machine actually spent its day.

How do movement alerts work?

You define the rule once — for example, movement between 8 pm and 6 am. When it triggers, the escalation chain notifies the first tier by push, SMS, or email and keeps escalating until someone resolves the alarm.
